Stacy, I hear ...In response to Stacy on Facebook:

Stacy, I hear what you are saying. The ordained minister that I am accepts your points; however, you are speaking of individuals and I am speaking of the party and the platform of which they are members and support.

The realist within me asks me: how can the folks who claim to be "Christian" can claim to love God while hating their neighbors, especially the children, the elderly, the ill, the poor, and the sojourners among us;

how can one share with others while worshiping greed and demanding the removal pf what few government supported benefits the children, the elderly, the ill, and the poor have to keep them alive;

how can one revere life while supporting government murder;

how can one love one's mother and father while doing away with the elderly's medicare and social security.

Those are just a few planks of the new Republican Party that I find repulsive. As for being Christian, I can't accept the fundamentalist dogma being preached on TV and talk radio.

OK. I let that out. My physical and emotional pain and poverty are so great that I'm thinking about calling my VA head shrinker and requesting a medication to put me in a catatonic state until my Lord calls me into Her.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16939152657551690867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-74820434902767644342012-04-15T09:42:57.198-04:002012-04-15T09:42:57.198-04:00I’ve had similar thoughts, Lyn. After all, he was an actor (even though in the “B” category) and he could say lines provided him, even if he couldn’t remember them a few minutes after saying them.

I just reread what I just wrote in this comment and it sounds catty. (Maybe because Alex is sitting on my desk?) Still, I ain’t removing any word of it.

Seriously, I’m with you, Lyn: politics scare the bejeebers outta me these days, too!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16939152657551690867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-73218677821927327502012-04-15T09:41:27.968-04:002012-04-15T09:41:27.968-04:00Thanks,R. I surely do. We know that he was fighting off dementia before his time in office ran out. I wonder just how much was covered up. There have been other presidents who were in some degree impaired while in office, and truth is, others invisibly and silently stepped in to run the country. How much did that happen with Reagan? And how hungry did those individuals become? Frankly politics scare the bejeebers outta me these days. As RGR says, there is no compassion, and I think no conscience, as well. There is a kind of "mob mentality" in politics, with many taking advantage of the situation with a shrug of the shoulders and a blazé "It ain't my fault." It's scary.Lyniluhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04742585512852240355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-35557034983993593392012-04-14T19:32:05.519-04:002012-04-14T19:32:05.519-04:00Your observations are correct, sir. Under the control of giant corporations, the Tea Party, and the Christian fundamentalists, the party has no room for justice or compassion.R.G.R.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-44078416329513878092012-04-14T14:47:18.994-04:002012-04-14T14:47:18.994-04:00Thanks for your comment, Sandy If you mean by &quo...Thanks for your comment, Sandy If you mean by "this administration," the Obama presidency, may I suggest that the financial problems we are experiencing today are a direct result of the 8 years of the Bush administration, during which interest on savings went down to nil, large corporations received anything and everything they asked for, government regulation of banks and other financial institutions was removed, the national deficit went from 0% at the end of the Clinton administration to the highest in U.S. history at the end of the Bush years. and lots, lots more.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16939152657551690867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-14256322470220284682012-04-14T14:47:02.731-04:002012-04-14T14:47:02.731-04:00Me, too, Mike. I was a lifelong Democrat, but there has arisen an arrogance I do not like plus my life has been soooooooooooooooooooooooooo difficult under this administration- even kept my refunds with no reason given. All around me small businesses and middle America suffered while the rich got very rich..I don't say some Republicans are much better but I have seen so many families lose so much .We must come back to a true America not a Hollywood driven one..I respect everyone's opinion however.Sandy Kesslerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17542892044386717213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-73079622336032316162012-04-14T14:09:18.455-04:002012-04-14T14:09:18.455-04:00The Grand Old Party started to lose me with the cr...The Grand Old Party started to lose me with the crap Nixon pulled and Ronnie was the strw that broke the camel's back.Mike Golchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14472496241893921107noreply@blogger.com
