My forefathers arrived on the Mayflower with a sense of alienation from England and never lost it. At last the American colonial "children" outgrew and outfought their English "fathers" with help from France and had to stand on their own in the world. I think that we hold a special regard for anyone in the world faced with a similar situation.Michael Serafin-St. Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00222406476906035537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-59094282690840906952008-03-16T22:00:00.000-04:002008-03-16T22:00:00.000-04:00Erin Go Braugh!Erin Go Braugh!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-31711414098255066672008-03-16T21:23:00.000-04:002008-03-16T21:23:00.000-04:00ANGUS: I’m the reverse: I didn’t encounter Yeats’ ...ANGUS: I’m the reverse: I didn’t encounter Yeats’ poem until after I began reading the history. I was drawn to Irish history by the song “The Patriot Game” many years ago. I didn’t understand the references and began researching them (long before there was the aid of the Internet). Yes, I’ve read “1916.” It’s a haunting novel. And, yes, they were dreamers—teachers, poets, writers—not revolutionaries.

COURTNEY: Slainte Mhor!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16939152657551690867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-23296710628271807512008-03-16T17:54:00.000-04:002008-03-16T17:54:00.000-04:00Slainte!!You can probably tell I dig with my left ...Slainte!!

You can probably tell I dig with my left foot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-19049527880417981242008-03-16T16:03:00.000-04:002008-03-16T16:03:00.000-04:00I never understood Yeats’ poem until I began readi...I never understood Yeats’ poem until I began reading about Irish history. Have you ever read the novel “1916”? Those leaders the British executed after the revolution failed were not revolutionaries. They were romantics and dreamers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-67550476126821811562008-03-16T11:28:00.000-04:002008-03-16T11:28:00.000-04:00Aye, dear Pink. To celebrate the freedom and martyrs of these folk is about all I can do in restitution.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16939152657551690867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12709723.post-63230850048274305442008-03-16T11:08:00.000-04:002008-03-16T11:08:00.000-04:00Although my ancestry is Green, I remember also Ora...Although my ancestry is Green, I remember also Orange Irish and the White of the flag that keeps the peace between.
xx
pinksPinkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14002817889549140522noreply@blogger.com
