Heat & an Angel

I just had a new experience. I noticed that the small hardware store a few blocks from me had used lawn equipment for sale outside on the sidewalk. Since all of mine was stolen from my garage, I have been unable to perform the lawn care that I usually do. So, I stopped, inspected, and purchased a used Weed Eater for $15.00.

When I paid for it, the young guy working the register said, "Sir, I hope you don't plan to use that today. It's much too hot outside. Wait until tomorrow, when the temperature is supposed to be in the 80s."

I have never experienced anything like that before. This young man, whom I had never before met, was truly concerned for my well-being. He was an angel, who, of course, is anyone who acts as a messenger from God.

The heat today is oppressive. We are under a heat advisory. The computer tells me the present temperature "95 and rising" with a "heat index" of 104. Even Alex, my sun-worshipping cat, decided to spend his outside time in the shade. When I came home, I found him curled up in the shade of my front porch. He was content. Of course, a few minutes later when I went out to snap this photo, he decided that he May as well experience the shade inside the house and uncurled before I could take the picture.
