A Different Kind of Fever

I’m in the grip of a kind of fever today. This isn’t Spring fever, although it has come upon me every Spring since I was 14-years-old. The kind of fever that grips me today is Golf Fever! The sun is bright, the temperature is 75 (Fahrenheit), and I have this urge to get out on the golf course.

It hit me this morning as I drank coffee on my deck. And it continued as I walked into my garage to drive to a meeting about a meeting I am chairing tonight. Rather than getting into my car, I walked to the back of the garage and gazed at my golf clubs. I gazed at them for a long time. And then I took the 2-wood out of the bag and put my hands on the grip and took the stance and…

I don’t know how long I stood there with that club in my hands. I had the urge to forget this morning’s meeting about the meeting and head for the golf links. But something—perhaps that appalling “Puritan work ethic”—aroused me from my reverie. I replaced the 2-wood into the golf bag and went to the meeting.

Maybe tomorrow I can hit the links. No, my itinerary doesn’t allow that. Saturday? Perhaps. Whenever I get to the golf course, I’ll let you know!

  2. Muffin would be over 20 years old if she were still alive.

Sexiness, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
