Normal Blogging Temporarily Postponed

This morning my mother telephoned me and said she had fallen on the floor and couldn’t get up Of course, I dropped everything and went to her house. I've been with her most of the day. She is presently at the hospital—yeah, we had to call 911 even though #1 son, Nick III, and I got her up and into her chair. I’m home to feed Alex while Nick III and my sister, Debbie, are with Mom at the hospital.

I had planned, and was working on, a blog post about Archbishop Thomas à Becket, who was murdered in Canterbury Cathedral on December 29, 1170, and his relationship with King Henry II. That post will have to wait a bit until I can finish writing it.

11:33 p.m. Update: After more than 6 hours in the emergency room and several x-rays, they could not find anything wrong with my mother. However, the MD did agree to admit her, at least for the night. Thanks, everyone, for your concern and prayers.

  3. I guess that's the thing we all fear most about getting old. That old "I fell and I can't get up" thing isn't funny. I hope your Mom is okay.

  9. Hi Nick ~~ Sorry to hear of your mother's fall. It was lucky she was able to call you. Perhaps she has a Safety Link Pendant to call for help
as I do. I wear it all the time as my
son tells me one more fall will be my last !! Great teaser that son, nut he
keeps a good eye on me. Glad nothing
was broken as so often happens.
Take care, Happy New Year, Merle.

  11. It's amazing to me how many times doctors just shrug their shoulders and say,"Huh, that was weird."

I'm glad you were there to help out. Best wishes for a quick recovery.
