This morning my mother telephoned me and said she had fallen on the floor and couldn’t get up Of course, I dropped everything and went to her house. I've been with her most of the day. She is presently at the hospital—yeah, we had to call 911 even though #1 son, Nick III, and I got her up and into her chair. I’m home to feed Alex while Nick III and my sister, Debbie, are with Mom at the hospital.
I had planned, and was working on, a blog post about Archbishop Thomas à Becket, who was murdered in Canterbury Cathedral on December 29, 1170, and his relationship with King Henry II. That post will have to wait a bit until I can finish writing it.
11:33 p.m. Update: After more than 6 hours in the emergency room and several x-rays, they could not find anything wrong with my mother. However, the MD did agree to admit her, at least for the night. Thanks, everyone, for your concern and prayers.
Nick, Thank God you were home and that she was able to call! I will say a prayer for your mother. I hope she will be o.k.
ReplyDeleteHope it works out for the best. It is a common occurance. Dangerous too.

It's amazing to me how many times doctors just shrug their shoulders and say,"Huh, that was weird."
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were there to help out. Best wishes for a quick recovery.
Your mother is in my prayers and the prayers of my congregation.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Saint Nick
I'm glad none of her bones were broken, Nick. Perhaps that says something for her general condition? I hope so. I hope all is well for you and for your mother.
