Tuesday Tidbits

Yesterday I Stood with the People of Tibet

Yesterday I added my name to this petition:

Petition to Chinese President Hu Jintao:

As citizens around the world, we call on you to show restraint and respect for human rights in your response to the protests in Tibet, and to address the concerns of all Tibetans by opening meaningful dialogue with the Dalai Lama. Only dialogue and reform will bring lasting stability. China's brightest future, and its most positive relationship with the world, lies in harmonious development, dialogue and respect.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Below is a photo of my St. Paddy’s Day celebration. The meal was nothing like any I have had to celebrate the Green in previous years.

St. Patrick’s Day Jaw Jaunt

I suppose one could say I took a jaunt—a pleasure trip—yesterday. It was to the dentist to deal with pain in my right jaw. It seems she can’t do a lot about it now: I need a root canal. I have an appointment next Tuesday to begin the process.

Alex Has an Appointment

Alex doesn’t know it, but he has an appointment tomorrow with Caryl, his vet, to have the sabers on his paws trimmed down to acceptable size claws. He also has cuts again on his fur—don’t know if he’s doing it with his extra long claws or he’s been playing rough with one of his buddies. Either way, it needs to be stopped. I don't like the sight of blood on his beautiful coat.

Alex Has a Secret

Alex has a secret that he shared on his blog: HERE.

  2. Love the picture of Alex you shared. Very nice.

I hope your root canal goes well. I waited so long for mine one time (the tooth hurt for months before I finally went to see a dentist) that the root was dead. They did not even numb me to do my root canal. I would like to see you try that! Good luck. Later in the year I think I have to get all four of my wisdom teeth out. I am not looking forward to that at all.

The beer looks good but the beef stew... well actually that looks good too. Now as nice as some things I am sure you have had in the past. My meal was corned beef and cabbage but I am not sure it would fit into the nutrisystem plan.

The situation over there in China is terrible and I am sure I do not know the half of it. I will sign the petition but I am not sure how much good these things do. We can only hope it makes a difference.

Good luck to Alex with Caryl. Maybe if Alex has his claws trimmed your nose hose will not need more duct tape patching any time to soon.

  3. MREDDIE: Thank you.

    BRYAN: Thank you.

I took that Alex photo last night just before I wrote this post. Alex has been in a “hold me and cuddle” mood, so I ended up with him in my arms even before I could put the camera.

The need for the root canal is evidently related to the work I done on my teeth 18 or so months ago. That dentist screwed up a filling; I should have known better that to trust my teeth to a dentist whose specialty is “teeth whitening.”

The Guinness Draught was good. I now have 11 bottles in my refrigerator. Unless I have any beer drinking visitors, those should last me about 5 years at my rate of beer consumption. The stew was good, although the portion was much smaller that I would have eaten prior to undertaking this NutriSystem routine.

  4. That's a sweet lookin' Guiness bottle. I haven't seen that one. China trying to blame the DL is such a bad joke. Cheers!!

MATT-MAN: The Guinness Draught was new to me, too. Of course, it’s the first beer I’ve purchased in more than a year.

I really wish that the Chinese would pull out of Tibet and allow the people the freedom they deserve. Of course, as my mum said so often: “Wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which was fills up faster.”

  9. I signed the petition. Thanks for giving the link.

It looks like you had quite the St. Paddy's celebration. I was wondering where you were yesterday - wondering if you partied too hardy the night before.

Sorry you have to wait to get the tooth pain taken care of. Tooth pain is some of the worst.

It's very sweet to see Alex in love - and it's so big of him to be willing to be friends with the woman of his heart while she is seeing another he-cat. Ya never know what the future holds, though...

    How is your leg doing???

  10. Oh Alex, I am very sorry that you must get your clawrs trimmed. I get mine trimmed too, and I do not like it. They are best when they are very long and very sharp! But if you are getting cuts, then I think it must be done. Please be very strong and brave about it, okay?

  11. Signed the petition myself. thank you for bringing it to my attention. I really could not handle the fact that the Dalai Lama would consider resigning.

Ouch on the root canal but you feel better afterwards.

So do you have to trick Alex to make the trip?

  12. Guinness and Nutrisystem, an unusual pairing. But whatever works, man, whatever works. Maybe you will take the Guinness to the root canal? Will you slip a little to Alex for the claw pruning?

For what it's worth--not even 2 cents I'm sure--decades ago I put in a short stint as a Nutrisystem weight loss counselor. Those were the lean years.

  13. I signed the petition too.

Sorry to hear you've got pain in your jaw, hope the dentist sorts it out for you next week.

  14. I remember my doctor telling me to drink Guiness when I was pregnant. :o) (Plenty of iron I think!)
Bad news on the required dentistry work but its best to get it done. I'm off to find out what secret Alex has now....

  15. Nick
I will bring some nuts and help you finish that fine beer. No need of it cluttering up your frig.
Alex is a cutie in that picture. They always pick the most surprising times to cuddle or at least our Sam Cat does.
I do not care how good a dentist happens to be as they are my least favorite in the white coats.
I have heard those tiny meals are very filling. If I do not lose more weight I may have to join you in your quest for a smaller me.
    Peace

  16. Aww, Nick, sorry to hear about your jaw...but at least it's nothing terribly serious and can be easily remedied.

    Alex, Daisy's a hottie. ;)

  17. ` I have a friend who had a root canal with no novocain - she is very pain tolerant!
    ` Good luck with that!

` PS I narrowly avoided a root canal after having a cracked tooth! No kidding!

` PPS I'm getting the internet Friday in my new place. I have several really good photos and stories, too!
