One World, One Light

My friend Vishwa introduced me to the Light Channels World Movement website. The site explains the Light Channels World Movement, in part, with these words:

This is a Movement in Conscience. A Movement to make this world a beautiful place to live in Peace and Love. This is a Movement of Light without any sermons, banners or boundaries.

The “how-to” of the movement is quite simple:

All that we have to do is to just channel and spread the Light which is above us in a subtler realm daily for seven minutes when we wake up and go to bed.

Do not worry about any technique. A plain request is enough. The Light will flow through us. The Light has Intelligence, Power and the Future. The Light has everything. When we spread it, it enters others’ hearts and homes and transforms all the darkness in thoughts, emotions and systems into Light full of Love and Peace. The individuals transform. The families, societies and nations transform. There is no doubt about this. It is a matter of time.

Will you take a moment and click over to the Light Channels World Movement and read the rest? There really isn’t that much more to read and the reading is easy.

I am not endorsing or asking you to join the movement. I am myself devoting an additional seven minutes to my evening and morning prayer/meditation time to channeling the Light. This world of ours is in need of Light—and a whole lot of peace!

This Little Light of Mine
(The Kingston Trio)

May the blessing of light be on you - light without and light within.

May the blessed sunlight shine on you like a great peat fire, so that stranger and friend may come and warm himself at it.

And may light shine out of the two eyes of you, like a candle set in the window of a house, bidding the wanderer come in out of the storm.

And may the blessing of the rain be on you, may it beat upon your Spirit and wash it fair and clean, and leave there a shining pool where the blue of Heaven shines, and sometimes a star.

And may the blessing of the earth be on you, soft under your feet as you pass along the roads, soft under you as you lie out on it, tired at the end of day; and may it rest easy over you when, at last, you lie out under it.

May it rest so lightly over you that your soul may be out from under it quickly; up and off and on its way to God.

And now may the Lord bless you, and bless you kindly. Amen.

~An Ancient Scottish Blessing

  2. Dear Nick ~~ I will go check out the Light Channel later. Glad your leg is healing, watch it for a while to be sure. Thanks for your comment on "Dance in the Rain." I hadn't heard of "The Dutchman" song, but I googled it and got the lyrics. Similar story but in reverse. How is Tasha's baby Gregory going? Take care, Very best
    wishes, Merle.

  4. I, too, like This Little Light of Mine. And I just listened to Arlo sing Amazing Grace (the Song in Your Mind Today - and now the Song in MINE). THAT song always gives me goosebumps.

Your light never stops shining, Nick...

  7. Nick, I needed to read this. It really resonates with a post I just wrote, one which was pretty hard for me.

I will click and read about the movement. All of those little lights do multiply exponentially. And we are in desperate need of the light.

  8. I shall look at this. May the same light that shines within each of us bless you and yours--keep the candle lit.

I may comment again after I check your link.

  9. Beautiful piece. I've been reading a lot of this lately--I recently was attuned to Reiki1 and I plan on studying to the Master level. Light as channeled can be understood as many things: 1. universal life energy 2. the Divine as we conceive him/her 3. love 4. intention to do good (energy again) 5. that which the darkness cannot encompass. I think of the book A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle in which the 3 children see what is called The Black Thing and they immediately hate it because it represents evil.
So channelling (to your friend above) can be seen as mentally opening yourself up to the forces of good. For a Christian, it means to be born again. For a Sufi, it is becoming one with God--similar to the Self and Brahmin in Hinduism. Judaism talks of the spark of goodness we all have within. And I haven't even tackled other faiths. Sorry for rambling, but a lot of this has been on my mind and heart.

  12. Great idea! I will do it. Thanks.

  13. Anything that promotes light, love and peace is okay in my book! I will start channelling too. I'm a Christian and after all, Christ is the light of the world, so channelling His light is the best thing I can do, right?

  14. Alex and I have had a very long and tiring day today. We went to see his vet this morning to get him a booster shot and some more steroid meds. When we got home we took a very long nap and I am just getting around to opening the computer.

  15. MERLE: Thank you for checking out the Light Channels World Movement. The concept may be new to many folks, but is a very old spiritual practice, especially in India where Vishwa lives.

“The Dutchman” is a fine song.I have previously posted it as my “Song in My Mind Today” at the top of my sidebar. I need to post it again in a post where in will be a permanent part of my blog.

Thank you for asking about Tasha’s son, Gregory. The little fellow had to be returned to the hospital: he was having very serious breathing problems. I pray that the new meds they are trying on him ease his problems. He is a very, very little baby and it tears at my heart to see him so ill.

  16. I agree with the idea of the all of the world channeling light. The two songs, This Little Light of Mine and Arlo Guthrie’s Amazing Grace, have given me a real spiritual charge! Thank you, Nick.

  17. DANA: It has been a favorite song of mine, too. It was one of the first songs I played and sang in a folk music group I put together back in the ‘60s.

  19. CAROL: Thank you. Your light shines very brightly.

Arlo Guthrie’s performance of “Amazing Grace” with his words about the history of the song moves me every time I play it. I believe that I shall slip the CD in my computer right now and let it caress my soul!

  20. HEART OD DARKNESS: Thank you, my friend!

    SANDY KESSLER: Thank you.

You are referring to Thomas, whose 18 or 19 year old companion, Alice, passed on. A few days ago his computer crashed and he temporarily deleted his blog. However, he is now blogging again. Thomas’ blog URL is: http://livingnextdoortoalice.blogspot.com/. I am certain that he would enjoy a visit!

  21. SAN: I’ll be over to your blog soon to read the post with which this post resonates.

I agree: little lights do multiply exponentially!

I keep thinking of the beginning of John’s gospel: “light shines in darkness, and darkness could not overpower it.”

  22. ENEMY OF THE REPUBLIC: Thnak you, my friend. Blessings on your continued study/pratice of Reiki.

I concur: Light/God/or whatever term on prefers, may come into the world via the channeling—or whatever term one prefers—of sentient creatures. Perhaps that is the only real way that light enters the world?

  23. AKELAMALU: You are ahead of me! Blessings, my friend.

BABA DOODILUS: Thank you. I have lots of Kingston Trio music and will endeavor to post more of their songs as “Song in My Mind Today” on my sidebar.

    LOONEY LUNA: Welcome aboard!

  24. POETIKAT: Amen. Again, I am reminded of the fist chapter of John’s Gospel:

“What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it… He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.”

ANGUS: I agree with your agreement. Those two songs also uplifted me! This whole post and the responses it has evoked have been uplifting. I am thankful for Vishwa, without whom this post would never have appeared.

LIBBY: Thank you! And thank you for reminding me a may need reminders to remember to channel the Light each morning and night! My memory seems to become shorter each day!
