A Teaser

The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood. ~ The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968), Strength to Love

Forgive us when we do no more than pray for them. ~ The Reverend Nicholas Lawrence Temple (1946 – present), Pastoral Prayer

I suppose the above two quotations represent what on TV is called a teaser: a foretaste of a post to come. They are the beginning of what I had intended to publish today as a follow-up to yesterday’s Blog Blast for Peace post, Dona Nobis Pacem. Unfortunately, I have not yet competed that post.

Allow me to explain: summer has arrived in Louisville. The high temperatures yesterday and today have been in the 90s (F); the forecast highs for the next five days are in the 90s (F). The temperature inside my house is presently 85 (F) and earlier today was 88 (F). Alex and I have spent today doing what we can to keep cool, which means for me sleeping nude on my bed with three fans blowing on me and, for Alex, sleeping on the floor beside the bed. It is much too hot for either of us to consider cuddling.

Although the outside temperature is now only down to 82 (F), there is a nice breeze blowing and Alex is outside sitting on the railing of our deck, cooling off. As soon as I press the publish button for this post, I am going out to join him—not on the railing; I’ll be sitting in a chair.

So, I suppose you will have to wait for my follow-up to yesterday’s Blog Blast for Peace post, Dona Nobis Pacem. I promise the wait will not be terribly long!

May Alex and you find the cool relief you both need.

  2. I hear you about the heat. Also in the upper 80s, may hit 90s the next couple of days, with high humidity.

Too much for a kid who lived in the bay area with a continuous ocean breeze most of his life.

Look forward to your next post and will be posting a video and a picture tomorrow also on a similar subject. Though not as eloquent as yours.

    Hang in there....

  3. I had never noticed before how very different in color Alex's tail is from the rest of him. I would love to know what his parents looked like.
