When I was a child, Easter Sunday meant:
- New clothes from the skin out
- Lots of flowers
- Everyone went to church
- At least three Easter baskets
- The Easter eggs we had colored at my house and Aunt Alma's house
- Easter egg hunts in my Aunt Lill's and Alma's yards
- Big dinners with my aunts and uncles
- Afternoon naps
- An annual walk with my Aunt Dot from my Aunt Lill's house to the tomb of President Zackery Taylor
- Lots of frozen candy in refrigerators for months to come
I don't know what Easter means to kids today, but underneath it all is:
He is risen indeed!!!
Let us go into the world in peace,
declaring the praises of God
who has called us out of darkness
into wondrous light.
May the God of hope
fill you with all the joy and peace of believing,
so that by the power of the Holy Spirit
you may abound in hope,
through the grace of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
He is risen indeed!

ReplyDeleteThis post was linked to one of mine... weird!
You know, Nick, I always hated Easter as a kid, because I didn't think I deserved chocolate eggs when I did get them. I dreaded the Easter Egg hunts because I was frightened I wouldn't get to keep what I found, but didn't think I ought to.
` This is the first Easter in which I feel better making sense of my uneasiness and so now it really is a happy Easter! :)
You are one of the few bloggers in the world who makes Christianity sound intelligent... but that is for another day. Happy Easter my dear man!
