I don't think that I am a hypochondriac...

I don't think that I am a hypochondriac, but for the last couple of days...

  • when I stand up from sitting I feel as if I'm falling backward & must steady myself with my cane
  • when I walk I wobble & must use the cane to balance myself
  • I keep losing my grip on things & dropping them
  • things at which I am looking keep coming in and out of focus
  • I am fatigued: I've slept 12 plus hours a day the past couple of days

So am I a hypochondriac or is there really something behind these symptoms?

  1. Sounds like a lot of things to just be all in your head. And isn't one of the things about a hypochondriac that they kind of want to be sick?

I'm sure you don't want to be sick.

  4. Unfortunately, When one has as many health concerns as you do, the "H" word lurks close. Some people see you as one, and sometimes it even make yourself wonder. But Nick, I think you are a stable minded person. Check with your medical caregivers. I don't think it is in your head.

  5. Definitely get it checked out, Nick. Like the old saying "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you," even if you were a hypochondriac, doesn't mean there isn't something actually wrong. Always rule out any possibility.

I am a self-admitted hypochondriac but it stood me in good stead when I got tongue cancer! I didn't brush it off as just a little canker sore that would go away, so it was caught early.

There are worse things than being a hypochondriac, for sure. Better safe than sorry.

  6. Here's another vote for getting things checked out. Your sweet doctor that comes over... I'm sure that she wouldn't judge you as a hypochondriac. I'd be interested in what she has to say.

    Take care of yourself, Nick.

    Please.

  7. You should get all those things checked out with your doctor Nick. Obviously they're worrying you, so go ease your mind. x

  8. I don't think you're a hypochondriac. I think these are things you need to check into.

(When my Dad had similar symptoms, it turned out he was anemic. Iron supplements put him back in the pink.)

  9. Reverend,

I really hope you get these symptoms further investigated.

    You're not being a hypochondriac!

    Peace and love, Maithri

  10. Good morning, Dear Friends! Thanks for you concern and comments. Since every comment this far has been about the same, I'll simply respond with this one update:

I slept about 13 hours last night, almost straight through. I feel rest, but weak.

When I awakened for the second time, I took what vital signs that I have the equipment for at home (glucose, blood pressure, pulse, & temperature). Then I telephoned MD2U and asked that Claudette or another physician telephone me. That was a bout 20 minutes ago and I'm awaiting the call.

I still feel weak and as if I'm going to fall when I stand. I've not dropped anything thus far this morning. I hope that I get to the bottom of this problem soon: I realty need to drive to the drug store to pick up a refilled Rx and a couple of other things. I don't feel it is safe for me to drive until I clear up this whatever is befalling me.

Thanks again for your concern. Blessing and much love to all of you.

  11. Yikes, I hope all gets settled soon.

Been awhile, as I mostly post and rarely comment, until winter arrives of course.

Watching too, with disbelief in what's going on around us, with the people who care so much for others, that they don't ; (

Which makes as much sense as what they are attempting to say, or disrupt.

I never really thought the white male syndrome would be as afraid as they are now ; (

Cheers and better health to you!!!!
