Weird & Amusing Songs of My Childhood

A few days ago I was driving home when the words of a song began playing in my mind:

Keep your mind on your drivin'Keep your hands on the wheelKeep your snoopy eyes on the road aheadWe're havin' fun sittin' in the back seatKissin' and a'huggin with Fred
I couldn't get it out of my minds, so I Googled the lyrics and found the song, Seven Little Girls:

I realized that I was 13-years-old when Seven Little Girls was released. I began remembering other weird and amusing songs from my childhood. Here are a few, beginning with comic-song writer Allan Sherman's (Hello Mudda, hello Fadda) Camp Granada:

That led me to a Purple People Eater:

And a Little Nash Rambler:

And finally, the 7th Cavalry at the Little Big Horn:

I had fun and song laughs remembering the 1950s and early '60s. I hope you did, too.

  4. We had about 3 albums of Allan Sherman. Loved him! Here's another for you - do you remember Little White Duck by Burl Ives? "I'm a little white duck, sittin' in a puddle...a little white duck, doin' what he oughter..." And how about "How Much is that Doggie in the Window?"

  5. You have always had ways of infiltrating my mind, Rev. Saint. This time it isn't with profound theological observations, but with old tunes that are going to be floating around in my brain for days to come.
