Family Photos Found

Last Monday Tiffany, my housekeeper, came over to help me clean house. A fuse had blown and she went down the very dangerous steps into my basement to reset the circuit breaker. While she was in the basement, she found a box of framed photographs that she was concerned were becoming mildewed. So, being the competent person that she is, Tiffany brought them upstairs and cleaned them up.

I have no idea how that box got into the basement or why it was placed there. I am thankful that Tiffany rescued these and am sharing a few of them, even though they aren’t in the best condition.

This is my family in about 1977. In back is my #1 son, Nick III, with #2 son, Rob II, in front. My ex-wife, Janel, is on the left and I am on the right. If you compare this photograph with the portrait my Aunt Dot painted of me, you’ll find that she modeled that portrait from this photograph.

Here are Nick and Rob in our house in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

I am unsure who this handsome dude is. Consulting with my mother, we have decided it is either my uncle, Frank Bossmeyer, or my uncle, Otto Weber. I think this photograph was taken in the 1920s.

During the summer of 1984, after my first year at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, I filled the pulpit of two yoked congregations in Illinois. This is me preaching at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Ohlman, Illinois.

  1. Finding old photos is fun. And why is it that pictures from the 70's have that color?

  9. Nick, it’s a pleasure and informative to see pictures of you and your family. The first photograph shows a most attractive family. The four of you look very happy. In the last photograph, I see not only, as Jody and Mazzie wrote, a handsome man, but a robust and imposing preacher.
