A Short Shriek of Pain

Allow me to vent for a moment. This day has not been a good one. Besides being unable to park near my house because of all of the cars parked there for an Easter parade, I ended up having to replace a piece of cleaning equipment that should not have broken. But that’s minor compared to being accused by a friend of something I did not –I would not –do.

I believe I wrote about the incident in an earlier blog: an anonymous letter concerning a friend, who then accused me of writing it. I did not write the letter—I don’t write or even read letters that are anonymous. Yet my friend doesn’t accept my word and brought it up again today, months after the incident. I hurt deeply and feel wounded by the distrust of my friend. I wonder if my friendship is misplaced.

  1. Some people don't deserve friendship. If you told that person you didn't write it then that person should take your word for it. I'd be very hurt, too.

  3. Squirl—Yes, you are right. I understand my friend was upset, not necessarily about the anonymous letter. However, she needed to strike out at someone and I was the one handy. And even though I recognize this, it still hurts.

    Merle—Thank you.

  4. I’m sorry, Nick. I know how being accused of something you didn’t do can hurt. It’s rather like what happened to Jesus on Good Friday. So remember: tomorrow (or today where you are) is Easter! May you find resurrection and peace in that day!

  5. Might not be my place to say this, but if they don't even know you better than that..they really aren't your friends.

  6. Azsonofagun—I had not thought of it from a theological perspective, but you are right. Being innocent and crucified for what one did not do is horrible.

Educatedunemployed—Perhaps you are right. She really doesn’t know me. Of course, she lies to everyone, especially herself.

  7. That’s terrible. Are you sure your “friend” is really your friend?
