I just can’t not write about this:
“A 21-year-old US man ended up in hospital after spending two hours trapped in a vat of chocolate, police in Wisconsin said on Friday... The accident involved dark chocolate." (BBC)
It reminds me so much of the Smothers Brothers song:
Tom (singing): I fell into a vat of chocolate. I fell into a vat of chocolate...Dick (singing): What’d you do when you fell in the chocolate?
Both: La dee doo dum la dee doo dum day...
Tom (singing): I yelled ‘fire’ when I fell into the chocolate...
Dick (annoyed, singing): Why’d you yell ‘fire’ when you fell into the chocolate?
Tom: I yelled ‘fire’ ‘cause no one would help me if I yelled
‘Chocolate!’
Both: La dee doo dum la dee doo dum day.
Tom and Dick Smothers, from ‘Chocolate,’ on The Two Sides of the Smothers Brothers LP.
Sheesh! And I thought I was clumsy. *knocking on wood* I've NEVER fallen into a vat of chocolate. Probably just lucky.
ReplyDeleteNow that would be my ideal way to leave this earth!
ReplyDeleteThe Smothers brothers were before my time. But I've heard that song on my Dad's old CDs--I mean LPs.
ReplyDeleteI remember the chocolate song and routine well - the Smothers Brothers were my favorite at that time. ec
ReplyDeleteI, too, remember the Smothers Brothers.
ReplyDeleteha! that was great. What a way to go :) Smothers Bros are great too.
ReplyDeleteThe Smother's Brothers were great. As good as their comedy was, though, I always thought it was a shame they never cut just a straight music album.
ReplyDeleteI never remembered hearing that particular song, even though I remember the Smothers Brothers.
ReplyDeleteWhen that story was aired on NPR it prompted a listener to write in that it reminded him of the Smothers Brothers song so NPR played. I can now say that I've heard them do it. Those guys always could crack me up.
