A Response

As you may know, I generally ignore ANONYMOUS comments. However, I am going to respond to this one:

"If you are so broke, how can you afford DSL at home, cigarettes, a cell phone, a therapist, etc, etc??? I am sorry things are so bad for you but sometimes we all have to do without luxuries to pay for the most important things. I am an ex-smoker so I do know what it is like to quit. The only reason you might have to provide a copy of your divorce decree is if your ex-wife is going to receive part of your pension. Is that the case?
Anyway, good luck to you and God Bless "

I cannot afford DSL or the cell phone. I expect Bellsouth to discontinue those services along with this dial-up alternative and my home phone at any moment. I get cigarettes as I can, sometimes going through garbage cans to find them. I had not seen a therapist in more than two years years, since my health insurance was canceled. I've seen this therapist for 2 sessions. She's a Roman Catholic nun and is charging me nothing. Yes, my ex-wife gets half of my pension, which is why I will receive less than $200.00 per month and why, at the urging of my friends and relatives, I have applied for SSI and Social Security disabilities to see me through to next February when I am eligible for regular Social Security.

  2. Oh Nick... I'm so sorry this has gotten so bad for you... I've had people who don't understand comment as well. In Canada DSL is actually pretty cheap thank God. As for cigarettes? $10 for a 25 pack so ugh! Our medicare will cover therapy if its through a government service but only if a doctor says its absolutely necessary. I'm on disability and I know how tight it can be. Stay strong dear and try not to let those who don't understand hurt your heart. Gods bless your soul sir. Even though we call God a different name - I'm still praying for you and you are in my thoughts.

  4. There's a lot of angry people out there. There's always going to be somebody pointing and shouting, "Well what about this, huh? What about that?"

Personally, I don't find your opulent lifestyle offensive at all. ;o)

Your friends are saying things like "I'm glad you're back!" Those are the only voices worth listening to.

  9. Rev. Saint, when I remember the tens of thousands of dollars you have loaned and given to people in need over the past several years, it rips at my heart to see you in this financial shape!

Please consider coming to Arizona. We have a place for you and your ministries here in the desert.

  13. What an uncalled for comment ... if the person who was "anonymous" didn't have the guts to sign his name, then he shouldn't comment. How rude.
Sorry you are doing things so tough, Nick. Hope things look up for you soon.
Thinking of you, sending best wishes ... Meow

  14. I don't see why anyone has the right to ask anything like that to any person.

Either you know someone that well that you don't have to ask, or you don't know them that well, in which case its rude to ask.

  15. Good luck with the SSI/SSA. It took us 2 years of wrangling and appeals to clear Ray as permanently disabled.

It should have been obvious to anyone who looked at him.

End of rant (unless you want to see what I said on Is America Burning about health care in this country).

My computer, cable internet, and an occasional caramel macchiato at the cafe where my son works are just about my only "luxuries" (except for the cigarettes I took up again after quitting twice).

If you ever decide to check out the "golden state", I have a living room couch.

Thinking about you and wishing I could help. Ignore the anonymous trolls.
