“To blog or not to blog” Ain’t No Question ‘Cause…

I'm a blogging fool

At the request of(read: "I was tagged by") Baba Doodlius and because I’ve noted that several neat bloggers are also doing it (hey! Remember I’m not usually a follower, but a leader—I hope) I’m posting this kind of MEME thing (or maybe chain letter) about why I blog. Of course, I’m adding my own stuff to it, it may end up being a bit, uh, verbose (as my mother accused my sermons of being).

Anyway, here goes (and if you want to post a similar type of thing, please follow my lead and do so, which will justify my claim of being a leader and not a follower).

So Why Do I Blog?

I now blog because I’m 74% addicted to blogging (see the thingy near the bottom of my now growing much too long sidebar). Sometimes I believe that that is an accurate reflection of how I spend my time each day and night.

I began blogging with Nick's Bytes back in 2005 at the suggestion of my Internet entrepreneur oldest son, Nick III. I continued blogging because I met so many neat bloggers and read so many neat blogs. I then began a second blog, UCC On the Net, reporting Internet sites and posts regarding the United Church of Christ. (Unfortunately, I have rather neglected that blog over the post six months because it is too time consuming with my present slow Internet connection). I then assisted Tiffany, my sometimes housekeeper and all the time friend, to begin her blog: AmOr OnLiNe. Then, not long ago, I, uh, allowed my housemate, Alex, the cat who owns me, to begin his own blog to respond to all of the stuff I write about my silly feline: Alexicon: A Feline’s Life with his Human.

That’s my history as a blogger, although I should mention my Monday posts of humor and jokes that I have received in my email that draws the most readers to Nick’s Bytes and my frequent posts on justice and peace from the viewpoint of the bleeding heart pinko liberal that I am.

The baseline is that I blog because I enjoy it.

Now to the MEME thingy that is the basis for this post:

We have a voice
We must be heard
Therefore we blog
Now spread the word!

This meme is based on a recent post that was conducted asking the question “Why do you Blog?” and the rewrite “Why do you Blog? - Reworked.” The purpose of this meme is to tell our tales by spreading the reasons that we blog to as many sites as possible. We get to explain ourselves, direct traffic to our site and highlight our most important, most representative or most relevant post in an SEO favorable format. This will be a positive experience for everyone who wants to get involved. This will enable you to create a short advertisement for your site that will be spread across the blogasphere; a growing directory of blogs.

My name is Mel and I am the Author of Attitude, the Ultimate Power, a.k.a Monday Morning Power. I blog because I am passionate about happiness and living in the moment. One of my most representative posts is On Trust and Relationship.

  1. Nicely done. However, on your post, you need to add **Start Copy Here** before the poem and add **End Copy Here** at the end of the post.

You have been added to the master list.

  2. You also need to add the "rules" and tag other sites to participate.

    Sorry, but them's the rules.

  3. That's all absurd. So take me off your bloody "list." I am too friggin' old to follow arbitrary "rues." This post, which is self-aggrandizing to self and others, is not my kind of writing or posting. I have wasted an entire day on it and that's is more than enough.

  4. What! Someone expected you, the rebel with more causes than Iraq has oil wells, to follow RULES? Shit! They don’t know you, do they!

  5. Hi Nick

I blog because if I can't talk, I write...and I have some wonderful friends too.

Thanks for your comment after my absence. Actually $90 wasn't so bad considering what could have been the alternative...a new computer!

Have a good day and hugs to Alex.

  14. Hi Nick,
I have been thinking about our last exchange and I am uncomfortable with how it ended. I do not like feeling this way, especially if there is something that I can do about it.

You are on the master list and there is absolutely nothing more that you need to do.

    Welcome aboard.

  15. Nick,
Just one more comment. I just read some of the comments above. Remind me NEVER to mention the word "Rule" when talking to you again. I probably should have read some of your posts before challenging you. I am happy to know you!!
