Below are update emails on 9-year-old Camryn’s status:
Sent Thursday....Thursday marks the start of the third day post event. We have had additional images taken via CT-scan and they show that the swelling continues. The doctors said that this swelling could occur up to 7 days past the initial event. We are still in ICC/CCU. The care is good. Last night, she had about 40% use of her left leg and left arm. Early Monday Morning, post event, she had less than 2%=2 0 combined in both arm and leg. We are confident that with time and therapy we can get even better. She is very light sensitive. She has a constant headache and she has times that she is still throwing up. All of these issues are congruent with significant bleeding and swelling of the brain. Thankfully, the CT-scans show that the bleeding has stopped and that it is only the swelling that continues.
Sent Friday.... Progress is happening, although slowly. She sat up in a chair and tried to eat breakfast this morning. She made it 40 minutes out of the bed. She is able to use the left arm and left leg for about 60%. Her speech is still slurred. And her left facial muscles are still lacking strength. The plan is to take away a medication for 24 hours, repeat a CT-scan. If the scan shows improvement, then they will move her out of ICU/CCU into a regular room on the floor.
Thank you for your concern and prayers for Camryn and her family.
Prayers are still needed.

ReplyDeleteThis tears me up. Camryn is right in the middle, age wise, of my own children. I can't begin to imagine what the parents are going through. And a stroke at nine years old!! Bless her heart.
ReplyDeleteI have prayed for her. Thank you for sharing and giving me the opportunity to fellowship with the Lord over this child.
Thank you for the update at the top of your blog as well.
