Bob, one of my oldest and dearest friends, has always been very observant. When he saw the above photograph, he emailed me and asked me about the shadowboxes (that I can hardly see) that are in the background. So I took the photographs below in an attempt to capture the inhabitants of the boxes. (Of course, you can click on the photos to greatly enlarge them for better viewing).
It would be interesting to hear the stories behind the inhabitants of the boxes.
ReplyDeleteThose are interesting, to say the least! I'm especially taken with the giraffe, leopard and zebra. And yes, it would be nice to hear the stories behind them.
ReplyDeleteThose are really neat thingies, SSN. I like the photo of you, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Nick I had such terrible troubles trying to post a simple "hello and happy new year" earlier here... the comments window just would NOT open up
ReplyDeleteso while I AM here: whoopee!
and have a most excellent 2009!!
;->...
You have some lovely things in your little boxes Nick, I especially like the buddha.
ReplyDeleteVery unique and interesting!
ReplyDeleteI had fun looking at the variety of themes in your shadowboxes. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou have some quite interesting objects there. I, too, would appreciate hearing about them.
ReplyDeleteThe little Buddha looks very happy and content in his niche.
ReplyDeleteI do not envy you the job of dusting all those things!
Nick,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you have a story for each of the shadow boxes inhabitants. Nice collection!
I see you are on oxygen? Wishing you the best for a Happy New Year!
Let me hear from you!
The Bach
I adore your shadow boxes, Nick.
ReplyDeleteHappy (late) New Year to you and the fine feline, Alex.
Very cool collection of things for the boxes, Nick! Also very cool to see you! (Of course, whenever there is a photo of you when I'm finally reading your blog, I point it out to Mr. Wonderful by saying, "there's Nick!" He thinks it's cool to see you too!)
ReplyDeleteI am glad that Bob is so observant. Now we need to know the story behind the objects. Will you please do a post on them? Write it soon because I miss wordzzle.
ReplyDeleteI too had trouble with the comment, though probably something I did? I could not get Frank Sinatra's song to open on NYE. I loved the other music.
Take care SSN and red is definately your color.
OK, now I feel silly, when I visited you on New Years Eve and enjoyed all of the great tunes, I could not locate a comment spot, but here I am no problem, seems clear enough today.
ReplyDeleteThe close up pics of your shadowboxes are really nice Nick, such a fine and varied collection of pieces! Your dragon shirt is pretty awesome too! :)
Blessings oxo
Gandalf! At least, I think that's Gandalf there. Cool decorating, Nick, might have to set up a few shadowboxes myself one day if I get organized. They'd have to be cat-proofed, of course :-D
ReplyDeleteYour shadowbox collection is neat, Mr. Nick. And it's nice to see your photo as well. I hope you and Alex are having a good weekend in this new year. Blessings and prayers for a healthy, happy and peaceful 2009!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Renie
Oh my, I remember shadow boxes me mother use to have when I was a child..... I didnt realise that shadow box was really a name for them....
ReplyDeleteYours are just beautiful..

Nick, thank you! I just listened to "Christmas in the Trenches" on YouTube and it is so very touching.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Willow
I thought I saw a Gandalf!
ReplyDeleteWe've been thinking about using shadow boxes in our bedroom. We have many little figures and this would be a perfect way to display them.
Happy New Year Nick! May 2009 bring more blessings than you could ever count!
ReplyDeletelovely. :) I think I like the couple holding each other and the wizard the best, but they're all nice.
