These are the first photographs I've taken of the first snow of 2010. There will probably be more photographs, since the forecast is for flurries to continue over the next three days.
I had considered posting these to my newest blog, Nick's Pics; however, that blog has had such few visitors that I have decided to post this set to Nick's Bytes.
The image above is an Impressionist rendering of the previous photograph.
Oh Nick how lovely. We are in the middle of a cold snap here and the WHOLE country is under white and stuck. Go see my blog for an amazing satellite photo of the whole country. It's mad really other countries manage to carry on as normal. Still it looks pretty where you are, but I doubt that Alex thinks the same judging by his stance he's saying "Me! Out! Snow! Bothered!"
Lia: This cold seems to be everywhere in the northern hemisphere! The forecast says that here we'll not see temperatures above freezing for at least another 5 or 6 days. Alex & I are cold in this 100+ year old house; my mother says that she is cold in her brand new duplex apartment. We all need some warmth!
dancingonabladeofgrass : Thank you. You remind me that before my leg became bum I was walking around taking photos of my neighborhood and posting them to Nick's Bytes. I really want to continue that project.
Puss-in-Boots: It's strange, but the snow has yet to lose it prettiness--it's not dirty or mushy or anything like that. Perhaps that's because flurries are still coming down.
Yes, I'd like to exchange this cold for some warmth! The temperatures today are to be in the high teens and lower twenties (F) with the wind chill being in single digits all day.
I am cold! So is Alex. He is sleeping under our electric blankie.
How are you keeping my friend? I have been so caught up n my Mum in Law's battle that I have lost touch with all my blogging buddies. I thought of you when we got her oxygen machine though. Do you still have bottles? We bought a machine that produces oxygen from distilled water (no bottles). It is lightweight and on wheels and I wish you had one too.
That's a pretty snow, and I really like that last photo that you tweaked. Very nice!
As for me, I'm tired of snow. It has been on the ground for a month or so now, and it's getting tiresome. There is hope, however, as it is 38° just before 9 AM, so we may get some significant melting today. And the temps will be in the upper 40s and low 50s for the next week or so. Whew!
Looks as if you got more snow than Nashville did. It is a dusting here but the temps are awful. It was 5.7 this morning when I got up. Stay warm and Peace
I love the white coat of snow. But I don't much care for the cold. I love the silence the snow makes as it falls and the crunch beneath my feet. But I don't much care for the dangerous, slick roads.
Oh preferences, preferences. ;-) What would we do if it was all always the same?
Thanks for sharing the pics of your neighborhood, Mr. Nick!

Much love

Lovely photos ... good to see your neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteWe have been snowed in for a couple of weeks now. Great pictures Nick, it does look lovely but is such a pain when you have to go out!
ReplyDeleteSnow is always prettier when it's on the other side of the fence (and you don't have to shovel it!)

ReplyDeleteAkelamalu : Snowed in for a couple of weeks? Brrrrr! If I were snowed in that long, I develop "cabin fever" and become a danger to myself and others.
ReplyDeleteSilverNeurotic: Excellent point! I'll bet that this snow would be even lovelier if I were looking at it from a high-rise penthouse
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...however, give me sun and warmth, even humidity, any day.

A winter wonderland. And your Impressionist rendering is oh-so-lovely, Nick.
