Sepia Saturday: Nana & Me
In the first Sepia Saturday in which I have participated, last Saturday, I shared the photograph of the wedding of my maternal grandparents, Adam and Anna Hertle. Today's photograph is on my grandmother, Anna Hertle (Nana to me), which was taken sometimes in the late 1940s.
I was born in 1946, so if you can estimate my age (maybe 2-years-old?) you can determine a closer day. Nana was born in 1886, which means she is probably about 62-years-old in this photograph.
Unfortunately, Nana wasn't in my life very long: she died in 1950, when I was 4-years-old and she was 64, the age I am now.

Wonderful photo. You look like a happy guy in Nana's arms. Makes me thankful my child still has her one Nana.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of you and your Nana m'dear. x
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you lost your Nana when you were so very young, Saintly Nick. You were a cute child; I am surprised by the blondness of your hair.
ReplyDeleteNick,
ReplyDeleteWe are the same age, buddy! You were a dandy! :) The Bach
I have a photo of my grandmother holding me...about the same vintage as your photograph. They're so precious. I was lucky, I had my grandmother until I was 15. I still remember her very clearly to this day and she was younger than I am now when she died.
ReplyDeletethat looks like a really old pic!
