Louisville Rocks Tonight

For Louisville rockers, tonight is the night, and Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, is the place. Tonight its The Rolling Stones and Alice Cooper. This is the forth gig the Stones have had in Louisville: the first was in 1975, the last in 1989. Tonight is their first outdoor performance and the first at Churchill Downs. A stage 92 feet tall has been constructed at the Downs, streets are being closed, and Louisville’s primary newspaper, The Courier-Journal, has printed extended coverage leading up to the show online at Rolling Stones rock Churchill Downs.

With Alice Cooper opening for the Stones, the night will be one that will bring back memories for old dudes like me. Yeah, I would love to be there. However, without a regular income, $60.00 for a ticket is beyond my means and, even if it were not, the tickets were sold out within six hours of becoming available.

  1. $60 for a Rolling Stones ticket? You can go to a local musuem and see fossils for much less than that.

I like the Stones, and I won numerous CDs, but at some point bands need to recognize that their tours are becoming a poor refelction of better days.

  2. LIMPY: $60.00 is for the CHEAPEST admission! 50,000 tickets were sold at prices ranging from $60.00 to $300.00 each. I heard a newscast a few minutes ago that said that parking near Churchill Downs is costing $25.00 to $40.00 per car.
