Prayers, Please—and More

Those of you who have been reading Nick’s Bytes for a bit know Tasha, my Veterans Administration provided three days-a-week housekeeper. If you’ve been keeping up with things in the Alex and Nick household (yeah, the cat’s name comes first because the furball rules the house), then you know that Tasha was away for a few months after the birth of her son, Gregory, on February 14th—which just happens to be my birthday.

Tasha is back with me since Vaughn injured his leg playing basketball. It’s grand to have her back.

Now on to my request for prayers or whatever is your personal form of asking blessings from the universe. Gregory was born with sickle cell anemia. At the moment 4-month-old Gregory is in Louisville’s Kosair Children’s Hospital. He is extremely ill; no firm diagnosis has been established.

Thank you and bless you.

  1. Oh. It's SO HARD to have a very sick baby (my second one was in ICU for the first two months of his life). I think of Tasha's beautiful smiles in the photos that I've seen of her and I hold her hand from a distance. Please tell her that she won't go through this alone. Love, seen and unseen, is with her.

  4. You definitely have my prayers! Madelene was borderline sickle cell anemia. She found out when she passed out in the grocery store. It was awful. I know how difficult that is.
Madelene's diagnosis was due to a large fibroid tumor that developed. It made her blood levels drop dramatically (or iron levels?), but it was a long process before they found out what it actually was - a lot a lot of testing.

    My prayers are out there!

  8. Aphrodite, Goddess of Healing, take away Gregory’s illness, take away the pain. Endeavour for it never to return again.

  12. I have lifted them, and YOU Nick, up in prayer. My form of requesting blessing from the Universe is going staight to the Creator of said Universe. Very convenient that way. :)

My mother's heart breaks for Tasha and Gregory and what they are going through.
    Be blessed Nick.

  14. CAROL: Thank you. I could tell yesterday while Tasha was working for me that she was preoccupied. I even suggested that she leave early and return to the hospital; however, the company for whom she works requires that she clock in and out by telephone from my phone and she didn’t want to lose any money, especially since I am her only client.

LIBBY: Thank you. Yep, born on the day Saint V was supposedly decapitated, having the first and middle names of saints, and the family name of Temple! My hypothetical “saintliness” seems preordained!

ENEMY OF THE REPUBLIC: Thank you. I hope a lot of folks spread the word with links and other means. I am a firm believer that there can never be enough prayers, especially for a child who is ill. That reminds me of another story I must write and post some day.

  15. DEB: Thank you. Sickle Cell Anemia is a scary disease; the effects of it, from frequent infections (which is what Gregory has now) to stunted growth and eye problems, can be so devastating for a child.

ANGUS: Thank you. All of the prayers that can be prayed for little Gregory will be beneficial.

TUG: Thank you. Yes, Gregory’s condition is heartrending.

CYBER WITCH: Thank you. I have not encountered a similar prayer except in books. I should really like to hear more about your beliefs.

MJGOLCH: Thank you. Your prayers and the link are greatly appreciated.

  19. Oh the poor little mite! It breaks my heart to hear of sick children having been through the ordeal of losing our first two grandchildren. You can be sure little Gregory will be in my prayers and on my list when I'm sending out Reiki.

  20. I pray that the baby is miraculously healed and the family is given comfort from the Holy Spirit. My heart groans for them. I'll send out the prayer request with a link to this page to all my people on my address list.
    God bless,
    Lance
What a kind site you have. Maybe we can exchange links. Cruel Virgin blogger spoke very highly of you as a man of character and conviction but mostly a man with a good heart.
