A Few Updates

Thanks to everyone who visited me on my Valentine’s Day birthday and who linked to me, inviting others to visit. Nick’s Bytes had what seem to be record visits—even more than there are for Too Bad It’s Monday jokes.

I have no word on Tasha or her baby. The only means I have of contacting her is via Home Instead, the company from whom she works. As of their end of business Friday, they had not heard from her. Tasha does have my phone number and I can only hope that she’ll contact me.

Home Instead did send another housekeeper, Sylvia, on Friday. Sylvia did an excellent job, even accompanying me to the store to pick up some have-to-have items: cat food for Alex.

Speaking of Alex, I feel as if I have been neglecting the furball by writing so much of The Muffin Saga. We have had some unusually warm weather here—the present temperature is 59 F—and Alex has been able (and willing) to go out and play. He is outside now and I’ve left the front door open so that he can come and go as he desires. (The open door also airs out the house which has been closed up much too long). I hope Alex gets his fill of catting around outside: tomorrow a much colder and snowy day is forecast.

I thank Matt-Man for this lovely award (for a comment I left on his site):

I am more tired of the primary electioneering since all of the remaining candidates espouse the same philosophy:

  1. Beautiful cat! :) I used to have two big white furry cats. They were the greatest comfort I can remember!

Agree with you about the elections. I'm also weary of the whole thing.

  2. I wish we could air our house out, but it's not yet warm enough (or dry enough) for that here.

But I have got my garden started, a neat little row of seeds in peat pellets, in anticipation of warmer days ahead!

  3. Our temperature has been close to 50 degrees F today. Lots of rain and big puddles. It's supposed to snow tonight.

Hope all is well with Tasha and the baby.

  4. I do not believe that there is any way Alex can feel neglected. He would not let you neglect him.

  5. A lot of truth in the political cartoon. ec

  6. Congrats on the award Nick and I'm sure you would never neglect Alex it's just that as soon as they aren't getting 100% of our attention, our pets have trained us to feel guilt!

  7. Congratulations on your new award!

That's a wonderful shot of Alex. Are Alex and Muffin friends?

  8. I'm sure Alex doesn't mind you spending time writing about Muffin, unless of course you forget to feed him! And don't forget, women and cats will do what they please and men and dogs should just relax and get used to it.

    :-)

  10. I'm sure that Alex will get his needs for attention met one way or another. Cats are good at that. He is really beautiful!

  11. Hi Nick, just wanted to wish you a belated Happy Birthday! I also see I have a lot of catching up to do in the Muffin saga! Baxter sends good wishes to Alex!

  12. I hope Alex enjoyed his time outside. We had a high of 43 yesterday which is something else in Michigan. Of course it was accompanied by an inch or more of rain but that is OK since we have 8 to 10 inches of snow on the ground in my neck of the woods. Anything to get some more to melt.

Political cartoons are always great. I think this one, with just a slight rewrite, could apply to any of the front runners. I think we need to institute a new hunting system. No hunting for votes outside of political season and then make that season only about 2 months long.

  13. That is a good Alex picture. The cartoon tells it like it is. That is all right if it means keeping the right wingers out of office.

  15. Hi Nick ~~ Good jokes there. I liked the sqashed frog one best. That kid went to a lot of trouble to get the milkman. Thanks for your comments
and I loved Lady Di's Purple Hat picture. Really nice. I hope Tasha
soon gets in touch, but glad they sent someone else. Take care Nick,
    Kind regards, Merle.
