Health Update: the Computer & Me

Something strange happened the other day. I have been working long hours—too long—bringing my new computer up to snuff. By last Thursday I have solved most of the problems except reinstalling two relatively expensive (for me) programs. The program files of these two programs from the hard drive of my fur filled old, computer that the Geek Squad transferred to my new computer just wouldn’t work. I needed to have the original programs and “keys” to install them. And, I could find the programs!

Thursday evening I received one of those emails that said if I forwarded it to ten people I would have a wish come true. I normally simply delete those ludicrous emails. However, by Thursday evening I was desperate. Thus, I forwarded the mail to the first twenty folks in my email directory. (Some of you may have been the unfortunate recipients of my desperation). Of course, my wish was to locate those two programs.

Friday Vaughn didn’t come to work for me because he’d injured himself playing basketball. The temporary person the agency sent was excellent. And, since I really didn’t have a lot of cleaning to do, I asked her to help me reorganize my music CDs. Well (you guessed it) among my music CD’s I found the program CDs for my missing computer programs!

I have no logical explanation for my wish being fulfilled. I am making no assumptions. I am just very happy that those programs have now been reinstalled and are functioning properly.

Regarding my own health:

  • My left leg is weaker than it ever has been. I have come close to falling, even with my cane, several times in the past couple of weeks. The physicians still have not found the cause.

  • My breathing seems to have improved. I have found I do not need oxygen except when I am up and moving around. I can sit for long periods of time without the nose-hose. Alex still attacks the nose-hose; I have taken to replacing it every other week.

  • The NutriSystem diet is remarkable. I’ve dropped just over 30 pounds in the past ten or so weeks. Someday I shall blog about it. I promise.
I am a Walnut

You Are a Walnut

You are down to earth and genuine.

Responsible and practical, you are a grown up in all aspects of your life.

You probably eat a healthy diet and get enough exercise.

And while you're not wild, you're not boring either. You're actually very deep and interesting.

  1. Dear Nick ~~ Sorry your left leg is giving you so much trouble and hope they can find out why and fix it.
Glad the breathing a little better -
is there something you could wrap around the hose to keep it safe from Alex. Glad you like my ornament and I hope you can get one, they were popular here. I have had a slight bleed in one eye, and it seems there are some clots in the carotid artery, so have to have a scan on my neck to test how bad any blockage is as a deterrent to
having a stroke. I just thought maybe they could check for that with your leg. I hope there are very few clots, otherwise, an op will be the outcome. I had no symptoms of this. Just a suggestion
    Take care, Best Wishes, Merle.

  2. Hey Nick. I'd like to echo what Merle said in that I'm sorry to hear about your left leg but am so glad to hear your breathing is better. In spite of Alex's attempts to sabotage the 'nose-hose'! That is also excellent news about the 30 pounds you've lost - congratulations! Looking forward to reading about that diet someday.

  3. Hi, I'm here for my chocolate milkshake...! :)

Good to hear from you! I'd say "what have you been up to lately", but you'd probably just reply "read my blog...". So I will! :D

  4. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your leg Nick but it's good that you don't need oxygen all the time.

It's amazing how things turn up in the most unexpected places isn't it, the same happened to me with a ring I thought I'd lost only to find it in a drawer 5 weeks later! :0

  5. Great job on the weight loss. Hopefully, the mystery of the leg will be resolved soon.

Thanks for the misc. pictures and thoughts. The "gas pain" one was especially pertinent.

  6. Nick!! The weight loss is fantastic! I am so thrilled for you!! I bet you feel pretty good too. :)

I loved the Alex commentary. :)
I think the programs were found due more your power of positive thinking than the email. I think all of us have the power to attract good things if we try. ;)

    have a great weekend!!

  7. That’s a lot of information, Nick. It was almost like reading the Sunday newspaper. I read it all and appreciate the time and effort you put into making my Sunday morning enjoyable.

Alex is one of those bloggers who needs alcohol to fuel his writing?

  8. Thanks for the update on your health (and your computer's). I'm glad you can go without the oxygen sometimes. Less drying for the breathing orifices...

Legs are useful, also, so I hope that something changes with that! (None of my business, but nerves in the lower back affect legs - have they ever checked that out?)

Lastly, CONGRATULATIONS on the 30 pound weight loss!!!

  9. In no particular order:

YAY YOU for the excellent Nutrisystem /fitness news. I'm jealous! I'd love to loose that much. Perhaps an investment in this Nutrisystem would be worth my looking into.

YAY YOU for finding the software.

Weak leg does NOT sound good.

YAY YOU for breathing better! That's GREAT news!

    I'm a Brazil Nut!!??!!

Thanks for the lovely comments during your whirlwind 'catching up on the blogosphere tour'! It's always a treat when you stop by.

  10. Congrats on the diet, the LOLcats, and the oxygen news! Sorry to hear about your leg.
My dad (a retired pastor) is visiting and it struck me yesterday that he looks a bit like you! He doesn't have a cat, but he does have a grandson named Alex... is that a little bit like the same thing? :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Always nice to hear from you. ~KC
