  5. I was a little young to appreciate this era at the time. Thanks for making it easy to access so that I can appreciate what it had to offer. I just wiki'd Kerouac to learn more about his life.

  7. Thanks, Nick, for the great John Kerouac. I remember reading On the Road and wishing for such a trip. Kerouac led me to Ginsberg then through him I found the poetry of Ferlinghetti. I'm glad for the reminder!

That's Steve Allen on the piano.

  9. Ah, I love Miles Davis but I have never heard of Jack Kerouac. I must say what a perfect addition to the coffeehouse. Smell that coffee...

  10. Queenie: You are most welcome. I am glad you enjoyed the coffeehouse.

Puss-in-Boots: I’m glad the coffeehouse brought you good memories. I get rather nostalgic as I create them.

China Girl: You are welcome. When I saw those videos I know that I had to use them.

Akelamalu: I’m glad your tea went well with the coffeehouse. Of course, if it were “real” I suppose it would be an all-night happening rather than a morning thing.

  11. Carol: You are most welcome. Jack Kerouac has been a part of my life since I first read him when I was a freshman in college.

Baba Doodlius: Yes, my dear feather friend, I have lots of Louis Armstrong! I shall invite Satchmo to the coffeehouse very soon.

Mimi Lenox : Thank you. I have coffeehouses in production that I hope are as enjoyable.

  12. Kat: I went through the same process as you—from Kerouac to Ginsberg to Burroughs to all of the other beat writers. It was from reading Kerouac that I began to really appreciate jazz.

Yep! That’s Steve Allen. He accompanies Jack on almost all of the recordings I have of him.

Professor: I’m glad that the coffeehouse could top off your day, like maybe the cream in your coffee?

Barman : Thank you. I enjoy Miles Davis, too. And I hope that being introduced to Kerouac leads you to reading some of his works!

  13. I was really excited that this year, at a new school, my son learned about jazz music and had his won scat! They took funding away from his old school for the arts program. I am thrilled that he is getting exposed to music at school now.

    Have a great day Nick.
